Holiday Hike

We will be studying many holiday customs that exist throughout the world...learning traditions through books, poems, and projects. We will be learning about St. Nicholas Day (The Netherlands), Diwali (India), Hanukkah (Israel), Chinese New Year (China), Las Pasadas (Mexico), St. Nicholas Day (Germany), Kwanzaa, and our own Christmas traditions. The paper dolls will be viewed on our bulletin board, Holidays Around the World, for the month.

As we focus on family traditions and celebrate holidays this month, we will read the book, The Night Treeby Eve Bunting. As a follow-up to this story, the students will stroll on the trails next to the playground and decorate trees for the animals with any family member who'd like to join us. We will share hot chocolate and  snacks.  Our classroom celebration  will be on December 22 at 1:30 pm.

Enjoy the holiday season!
