Newsletter March 15

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We tried our best, but those tricky leprechauns got away.  They left us quite a mess. The traps that the children set were amazing.  They each had a chance to explain to the class how their trap would work.  We even learned a new term, modify.  After listening to each other, some of the class wanted to modify their traps.  It was fantastic to hear all of the thinking and to see all of the creativity.  I think that we have many future engineers!

We are learning about:

  • measuring with centimeters
  • open and closed syllables
  • healthy teeth
  • how partners can help each other to become more thoughtful readers
  • building our vocabularies (ask you Seal what modify and variable mean)
  • sorting shapes by attributes

Some activities we did:

  • had a visit from Miss Jan from the Wiggin Memorial Library
  • participated in read across America Day
  • shared our leprechaun traps
  • conducted the milk experiment
  • predicted what liquid would stain our teeth more
  • sorted words by syllables
  • created a Lorax picture
  • wrote a rainbow of things that we like
  • played Maxwell's manners
  • decided which foods would make our teeth happy or sad
  • read Sweet Tooth
