This week in the Seal Class...

We are learning about:


  • our readers' workshop routine
  • building reading stamina
  • how writers write about the things that are most important to them
  • ten frames
  • greater than and less than
  • syllables

Some activities we did:


  • played number squeeze
  • found three things in common with a friend
  • made a pattern with our names
  • created character maps of ourselves
  • played race to the top
  • practiced being good partners during cooperative games
  • made a map of our heart
  • shared our special books from home
  • painted with water colors
  • wrote about recess
  • practiced fire drills

First week of the First Grade

We have had a wonderful start to our year!  The past couple of days were filled with  establishing routine, schedules, expectations, goal setting, and getting to know each other. 

                                                   
      We are learning about:

  • what it means to be in the Seal Class
  • how to be a bucket filler 
  • the rules for our classroom
  • playing cooperative games
  • Art and Music class
  • how to take care of or classroom library



Some activities we did:

  • created our class rules
  • sorted and graphed Legos
  • wrote about our first day
  • explored our class
  • played lots of games
  • painted colorful objects
  • made our names in model magic
  • toured our school
  • used the new ipad minis
  • began out first chapter book My Father's Dragon
  • practiced two fire drills
  • read Wembley Worried and wrote our worries to give to Wembley
  • started our 100 acts of kindness chart
